James Earl Whitby, 86, of Roanoke Rapids, NC died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Whitby was born in Brunswick County, VA, the son of the late Tom and Elva Mae Whitby. He retired from the Bibb Company’s, Rosemary Plant in Roanoke Rapids, NC. His daughter, Wanda Kay Turner and a sister Sally Mae Russ also preceded him in death.
Surviving are: three daughters, Debbie Jean Blankenship, of Emporia, VA, Brenda Gail Russ of Bostic, NC and Susan Ann Liming, of Lawrenceville, VA; a son Danny Ray Whitby of Emporia, VA; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Russ, Margaret Russ Morrison, Tina Turner, Clifton Whitby, Eric Blankenship, Jonathan Whitby and Kelly Liming; and eleven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 1:00 PM, with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. officiating.
The family will receive at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, 1015 W. 5th Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
