Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Clary Parnell age 79, of Roanoke Rapids, NC died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Pat was born May 19, 1934 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the daughter of the late Joseph Carl Clary and Helen Powell Clary. She worked as bookkeeper and office manager for Blue Flame Fuels for 46 years before retiring last October. Pat was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 50 years where supporting World Missions was her passion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elery Parnell, and her son David Richard “Rick” Hurst. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Henry Lee Clary (Jeanette), Lacy McCoy Clary (Nancy), Robert Clary (Nita) and J.C. Clary (Peggy).
She is survived by her son Benji Parnell, her step sons, Dennis Parnell and his wife, Cheri, of Roanoke Rapids and Steve Parnell and his wife, Regina, of LaGrange, NC and seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Her surviving nieces and nephews include Amy Clary Biehl and Alan Clary of NC, Sue Clary Salvatore and Henry Lee Clary, II of VA, Marty Clary Sweinheart, Tina Clary Pennock and JoAnne Clary of PA, Helen Clary Haas, Rachel Clary Humpf and Joel Clary of MI and Richard Clary, David Clary and Diane Clary Mundy of WA.
Most dear to Pat were Benji’s caregivers, Rose Parker and Rosa Ferguson. Also many special friends including, Dondie S. McNickle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 32014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids with Pastor D.A. Leonard and Rev. Margaret Horrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to services.
