Nancy Virginia Burgess, age 83, who was a longtime resident of the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, Virginia softly slipped away to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary Jarrett Burgess and William R. Burgess; two brothers, Calvin D. Burgess and Jerry Wayne Burgess.
She is survived by one brother, William R. Burgess of Anderson, South Carolina and three sisters, Marian B. Stephens of Stuart, Virginia, Joan B. Flake of Frederick, Maryland and Patsy B. Harris of Richmond, Virginia. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jean Simmons Burgess of Matthews, North Carolina, Nancy Cash Burgess of Raleigh, North Carolina. Precious to Nancy were numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and adopted grandchildren from her special friends who shared their children with her.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
The family will meet at 10:00 a.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids and will proceed to the cemetery for the service.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and heart felt love to the wonderful staff at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center. Not only was it home to Nancy for 18 years, but each person provided companionship and loving care until she was safely in her home with her Heavenly Father.
