Bobby Ray Phillips, Sr., 72, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Phillips was born in Johnston County March 27, 1942, to the late John Harvey Phillips and Katie Delores Allen Phillips. He lived a full and satisfying life and loved anything to do with old cars. He also loved racing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Donald and Jimmy Wade Phillips, and his sister, Brenda Faye Phillips.
Surviving is his special friend and partner, Mary Hatchell; one son, Bobby Phillips, Jr.; one daughter, Tammy Glover and husband, Joe, all of Roanoke Rapids; three brothers, John Phillips and wife, Rhett, of Roanoke Rapids, Harold Edward Thompson and wife Jeanette of Seven Springs, NC, and Arthur Wayne Phillips and wife Donna of Fayetteville; one sister, Judy Faye Coffman and husband, Rick, of Bluefield, WV; sister-in-law, Judy Phillips of Roanoke Rapids and one grandson, Chase Alex Glover. Also surviving are several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 7-8:30 pm. Rev. D.A. Leonard will conduct funeral services in the chapel at Hockaday, Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
