Frances Birdsong Copeland

Copland 79, of Gaston, NC died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, NC.

Mrs. Copeland was born in Northampton County, NC the daughter of the late Addie Mae Birdsong. She was a secretary, who was formerly employed with Guardian Care, Dollar Wholesale and Airmold. Her grandson Matthew Whitfield “Matt” Keeter, preceded her in death.

“Ms Whit”, believed family always came first, she loved to sketch and oil paint landscapes, loved all flowers... and especially roses, and enjoyed music and dancing.

Surviving are: her husband, Jonathan Whitfield “Whit” Copeland, Sr.; three daughters, Debbie C. Griffies and her husband Bryan of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Brenda C. Cooke and her husband Allen of Gaston, NC , and Jackie C. Liles and her husband Neal of Littleton, NC; a son, Jonathan “Joey” Whitfield Copeland, Jr. and his wife Amy of Littleton, NC; six grandchildren, Michael Keeter, Nikki Griffies, Kasey Copeland, Kaley Copeland, Briar Copeland and Brynley Copeland; four great grandchildren, Kingston Keeter, Nolan Keeter, Oliver Keeter and Ayden Keeter.

The family will receive Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, 1015 W. 5th Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Gaston, NC, with Rev. Richard Russell, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
